Week 0 - Introduction

Briefly, then, since you have two hundred entries or so to get to: I'm a writer at night and a student by day, though what I am learning changes from time to time. Most of the time, it has a bit to do with the technology of tomorrow, though sometimes I get tired of that and learn about the politics of the present or the history of humanity. Also, a small part of me likes alliteration.

I write mostly fiction because I don't think my life is as interesting as the myriad worlds that come from my imagination, but a friend of me remarked that in everything I wrote, he could see glimpses of me. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not, but in reading over some of my work, I agree - my love for adventure, for twists, for certain styles, my complete lack of subtlety: well, it's all there.

I like to write, and I very much like criticism and commentary on my writing. So please, if you have questions, comments, or suggestions, comment away or PM me. And like I said before, in the interest of full disclosure: I'm a returning LJ Idoler, with a new account to let this writing stand on its own.

So then, we are about to start.

To those that are new: welcome! Ask questions, read everything you can, and comment everywhere. Also, after this season, drag your friends in - after you hang around here for a bit, I'm sure you'll have one or two names that come to mind, who would be perfect for this world, this community, this writer's circle.

To those that have played before: It's always, always good to see you again ;)

It'd be nice to see a fifty-fifty split, though I think historically many people have preferred to see more journaling than fiction?

Historically, maybe. But I know I did pretty well last season/year/whatev and more than half my stuff was fiction. I suppose it's all about what you do with it than anything else.

Though this year may have a backlash against fictioneers that I don't know about or something.

But, then, to me... well, fiction is a part of my journaling process, so I feel it's pretty natural to put it in there. Your mileage, of course, may vary.

Indeed - though I think some fiction offers better glimpses than others; some are written more as 'an exercise in writing' than a reflection of the author. But it all shines through, to some extent.
