Seriously, writing from the perspective of a Confederate officer was a bold move, and you did it with such heart. Obviously, I think it's better that slavery was abolished, but so many people still don't get that the Union wanted to end slavery partially (maybe even mainly) for economic reasons. The North didn't become a haven for freed slaves after the war.
There was no "good side" and no "evil side." As in most wars, there were good and bad people on both sides, and the side that won gets to write most of the stories. :P
